Why it matters
Why infection control matters in beauty & personal services
Shared tools, product pots and small cuts can carry bacterial, fungal and bloodborne infections between clients. In many parts of Australia, councils register and inspect beauty and skin penetration businesses against infection control standards.
- Reusing tools between clients
- Waxing and cuticle work
- Shaves and razor work
- Needles and skin penetration
- Product pots and double-dipping
- Towels and linen
- Clients with skin conditions
- Small blood spills

Beauty & Personal Services questions
Does this cover nails, lashes, hair, tattoo and massage?+
Yes. The sector module covers tools, single-use items, skin, blood and product hygiene across personal services.
Will this meet my council or licence requirements?+
It depends on your state and licence. Some licences, such as higher-risk personal appearance services in Queensland, require an approved qualification that this course doesn't replace. Check with your council.
Can my salon buy it for the whole team?+
Yes. Team packs of 5 or more come with a code for each staff member and a progress page.
How long does it take and what does it cost?+
About 30–40 minutes. The course and assessment are free; the certificate is A$39 after you pass.
