It depends on your state and services
Rules for beauty and skin penetration businesses are set by each state and territory and are often enforced by local councils, which register and inspect premises against infection control standards.
When a qualification is required
Some licences require an approved infection control qualification. For example, higher-risk personal appearance services such as tattooing in Queensland need a licence with specific requirements. An awareness course doesn't replace those.
When awareness training helps
- New staff and apprentices learning salon hygiene.
- Annual refreshers for the whole team.
- Showing clients and councils that hygiene is taken seriously.
Check with your local council about requirements for your premises and services.
