Where the infection risks are
- Used linen and towels that may carry body fluids
- Bathrooms and toilets, the highest-risk areas in a room
- Sharps or needles left in rooms or bins
- Cloths and equipment moving from bathroom to bedroom
The habits that matter most
- Don't shake used linen — bag it in the room
- Use separate, colour-coded cloths for bathrooms and other areas
- Clean high-touch surfaces such as handles, remotes, switches and taps
- Treat every bin as if it could contain a sharp
- Clean your hands every time you remove gloves
