Short answer
An infection control awareness certificate doesn't have a fixed legal expiry date. What matters is what your employer requires — and many ask staff to refresh infection control training every year.
What employers usually ask for
Aged care, disability support, childcare and healthcare providers often include infection control in a mandatory training calendar, commonly with an annual refresher. Some also require a refresher after an outbreak, a change in procedures or a return from extended leave.
Accredited units are different
A nationally recognised unit of competency, such as HLTINF006, is a different kind of training delivered by a Registered Training Organisation. Statements of Attainment for accredited units don't usually expire either, but employers may still ask for refresher training on top.

Each certificate from our course shows the completion date and a unique ID that employers can check online. If your employer asks for a refresher, complete the course again for a certificate dated that day.
